Summary:
The Technical Writer will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of in-depth, complex IT documentation and creation/maintenance of Software Manuals.  This position will translate technical and/or complicated information into clear, concise documents appropriate for the target audiences.  This role will work with highly technical individuals who are responsible for all aspects of the developed tax software.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Create and maintain Software Manuals, IT Documentation, and Technical Papers
  • Translate technical and/or complicated information into clear, concise documents appropriate for various target audiences
  • Work with Development, Quality Assurance, and Technical Support to produce a wide variety of technical publications including instruction materials, technical manuals, product documentation and the like for use by both the IT and business community
  • Interview Subject Matter Experts and technical staff to collect information, prepare written text, and coordinate layout and material organization
  • Maintain knowledge of company product lines and document structure
  • Maintain internal documentation library, provide and/or coordinate special documentation services as required, and oversee special projects;
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum/Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in English or Communication, or equivalent experience; knowledge of the Tax Industry is an added plus; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; excellent written skills; able to work well in team and standalone environments.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to write documentation in both English and Spanish
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks or projects
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with Tax Industry a plus, but not required
  • Prior experience with technical writing
  • Strong attention to detail

    Junior Software Developer Tracy, CA or Remote


SUMMARY:

Perform the analysis, design, programming, troubleshooting, modification and enhancement of provided suite of products. Responsible for the development of source code, and completion of programming, testing and debugging of supported applications. Position requires a firm background in software engineering and programming including analysis, design and implementation.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Design, document, develop, test and support in-house utilities as assigned

  • Develop in a team environment with a State Analyst to improve and support the suite of products

  • Develop and support of the suite of products; primarily state applications development, enhancements and updates

  • Document software design

  • Debug and test software implementations

  • Resolve customer problems in a friendly and timely manner in order to ensure customer satisfaction

  • Resolve trouble tickets and document action steps and resolutions including follow-up

  • Use professional judgment to resolve problems

  • Escalate customer concerns as necessary to personnel or management, as required

  • Communicate problems and trends to team for internal resolution

  • Assist and communicate with Technical Support Leads and resolve reported problems

  • Perform other duties as required

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

3+ years' experience in a technical software development role (preferred); advanced programming skills in Java, C++, C languages, or equivalent; knowledge of development tools and environments; knowledge of testing tools and environments; knowledge of algorithms; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; excellent written skills; able to work well in a team environment.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related technical discipline

  • Equivalent work experience and/or technical training will be considered in lieu of the degree

  • 3+ years' experience in technical software development role

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting, maintaining and debugging complex programs is essential

    State Tax Analyst Tracy, CA or Remote


SUMMARY:

Perform the analysis, research and interpretation of State tax rules and regulations and work directly with a Software Developer to ensure that changes are implemented into the Suite of products. Responsible for development and layout of forms, testing and debugging of supported applications.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze income tax forms and instructions received from the taxing authorities and enable the team to implement changes into the product

  • Perform research, interpretation and analysis of State tax rules and regulations

  • Manage the design and development of tax products

  • Coordinate product release schedules with Management, Development Team and QA to ensure products are released on schedule

  • Execute tests against tax calculations for errors in the logic, as part of the final quality review process

  • Before every product release, review and signoff on your assigned products from a coding / shipping readiness state

  • Review and help resolve calculation errors in tax forms

  • Monitor the Customer Support System for noted issues and make recommendations for enhancement and resolution

  • Discuss customer issues with Management and Development Team

  • Discuss and recommend consistency and uniform functionality in form and worksheet design

  • Work closely with the assigned developer for e-file requirements and mandates, needed diagnostics for decreasing e-file rejections, and e-file release schedules

  • Stay current with state tax laws and regulations, as well as with different program functionalities

  • Ensure that assigned tasks are completed within established time frames

  • Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to respond to customer inquiries and complaints; ability to solve problems in a timely and friendly manner; ability to effectively present information to coworkers and management; excellent verbal and written skills; excellent telephone skills; work well in a team environment.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business with an emphasis in Accounting (or comparable major)

  • CPA or EA preferred

  • 2+ years' industry or public accounting experience in tax compliance or tax software systems

  • Knowledge of tax research products and techniques

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

  • Flexible, detail oriented and positive attitude

  • Self-directed and highly motivated

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment

    Junior Software Engineer Tracy, CA


SUMMARY:

Analyze, design, implement, troubleshoot, modify, and enhance a suite of internal tools. Support and maintain reports for use internally by employees and externally by customers. Position requires a firm background in software engineering and programming including analysis, design, and implementation.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Design, document, develop, test, and support in-house utilities
  • Develop in a team environment with other engineers
  • Develop and support software tools related to issue tracking, order entry, accounts payable, customer support, bank enrollment, etc.
  • Document software design
  • Debug and test software implementations
  • Resolve trouble tickets and document action steps and resolutions including follow-up
  • Use professional judgment to resolve problems
  • Write reports using SQL for a wide variety of applications
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance department to maintain a high level of stability
  • Work with inter-department personnel to gather requirements and verify satisfactory solutions
  • Perform other duties as required
